The green online shop

The construction sector in Germany is booming – and with this boom, the demand for resources such as building materials is also increasing. This means that million tons of material are taken from nature every year. It is important that there are companies like MPM-AG from Munich together with partner companies, are driving forward the recycling of building materials in a holistic way. In this manner, high-quality materials are produced from old building complexes. 

Pixelperfektion delivers a highly individualized online store for this green endeavor as a pilot project for a central recycling center in the former Bayernkaserne Munich.

The idea for the final key visual actually came to our minds very quickly – after an early appointment on the former Bayernkaserne site, we created various photos of the materials for the store. But simply uploading these 1:1 into the store would have simply been too clumsy for us – the idea for the 3D material was born. In addition to the creative idea, the focus in the design was clearly on usability – everyone should be able to find their way around the online store easily and comfortably. Illustrations, colors and typography completed the overall look and feel. .

In the next step, we were able to take care in the wireframing that all customer requirements for the required functionalities were now covered. In various click dummies we were able to run through everything realistically. The green light shone again, this time for the development phase of the web project. Thus, last illustrations were created to round off the design.

The programming of the store was based on Shopware. Of course, the frontend was individually coded as a template – but also the store logics had to be strongly individualized for the use. Just to name a few examples:

1. No shipping, as in traditional stores, but truckload pickup based on weight
2. Individualized order process with request, offer order and delivery notes
3. The system is agilely developed by us and is waiting for further, possible updates like e.g. connection of scales or availability display based on drone material
4. Individual customer area with status information and document overview
